Chem milling is a commonly used process for creating highly intricate metal components.

Chem milling is a commonly used process for creating highly intricate metal components.

Unlike machine work, which shapes metal based on three axis points (X,Y, and Z), chem milling removes metal in a uniform manner from the entire surface area, or from predetermined parts of a whole. It is a very cost-effective means of creating metal pieces of uniform size and wall thickness regardless of the shape. Even the most complex forms can be easily milled using this process.

The process of chem milling has another advantage, in that it can be readily applied to any metal material or surface. Aluminum, brass and steel are all ideal candidates for this type of treatment. It is particularly useful with the more exotic metals, which might pose problems with standard machining practices.
