When designing chemically machined parts, there are certain guidelines which will help expedite production.

Dimensions & Tolerances

There are a few design rules which express practical limitations when the dimensions under consideration approach the thickness of the metal. The most common rules are as follows:

Inside Radius (IR) = Material Thickness (T)
Outside Radius (OR) = 75% of Material Thickness (T)
Hole Diameter (D) = 110% of Material Thickness (T)
Bevel (B) = 10% of Material Thickness (T)
Space between Holes (W) = 110% of Material Thickness (T)
Center to Center (C/C) = Artwork

 Typical Tolerances are +/- 10% of material thickness (T)

 

The etching process creates a bevel (B). As a rule of thumb when etching from two sides the bevel (B) is approximately 10% of the metal thickness.
